Canonical tag

A canonical tag tells search engines which version of a page is the original when content is duplicated.

The same page often exists at multiple addresses: with and without parameters, with and without www, in a print version. Without direction Google splits the value across all variants.

The canonical points to one version as the real one. That bundles the strength and prevents the wrong variant from appearing in results.

It is a hint, not a command. If the tag conflicts with your other signals, Google decides itself.

How we do it

Every page we deliver points canonically to itself or to the correct main version.
