Search intent
Search intent is what someone truly wants to achieve with a query: know, find, compare or buy.
Someone searching best espresso machine wants to compare; someone searching buy espresso machine wants to order. Same words, different intent, and a different type of page needed.
Google rewards pages that match intent. A product page on an informational question sinks, however good it is technically.
Read intent from what currently ranks: if results are mostly guides, Google wants explanation; if they are shops, Google wants offers.
How we do it
We plan every page on intent, not just search volume, so the odds of ranking improve.
